The Exposure Spark Mk2 is a fantastic road riding and commuting light. Thanks to a Cree XPG LED, the Spark Mk2 puts out 255 Lumens from it’s tiny, CNC machined body. It uses the same excellent tool free handlebar mount as the Flash front light and will also fit the helmet mount that the Joystick and Diablo share.
The Spark runs on two rechargeable Litium Ion batteries that will power the Spark on its 255 Lumen setting for around 3 hours or around 8 hours on flash. There is also a low power mode but as the days are still long, I haven't needed the light for more than 3 hours. A charger and two extra Lithium Ion batteries are included in a nice carry case.
Exposure have integrated the battery into the light to create a self
contained unit since their inception but the integration doesn’t stop
there. The rubberised power button also acts as the mode selector,
showing a green light for high and a red light
for low. After 2 seconds the colour of the light will act as a fuel
gauge, showing green (full-50%), amber (50-25%), red (25-5%) and finally
flashing red when there is less than 5% charge remaining. A double click turns the Spark on and a single click changes power settings. Pushing and holding the button for about a second enters the flash mode and pushing the button again returns it to constant. To turn the Spark off, simply push and hold until it stops flashing, approximately 2 seconds.
Manufacturer's Description
2012 sees the Spark get introduced to the CREE XPG LED. Previously using a Seoul product the Spark has increased from 220 lumens to 255 lumens.
The Spark can be used with disposable or recyclable batteries whilst still benefiting from the Mode and Fue Gauge Button.
2012 improvements bring a new knurled back cap which makes the rear cap super easy to remove.
