The Exposure MaXx D has been around for some time now, with each version steadily improving on the last. Until recently, the MaXx D Mk4 was Exposures most powerful light (that honour now goes to the beast that is the Six Pack). Punching out 1285 Lumens from 4 Cree XPG R5 light emitting diodes, the MaXxD will light up any trail and do so for 3 hours. Switch it down to medium and you’ll recieve ~385 Lumens for 10 hours and low will give you 24 hours of light. The MaXx D Mk4 tips the scales at a mere 337g including the excellent CNC machined bar clamp. As 337g is too much to put on your head, the beam pattern is optimised for bar use so you get a very broad beam with a nice spot to punch down the trail. Exposure spend a lot of their time improving the quality of the light and how it’s delivered and this shows when riding.
Exposure have integrated the battery into the light to create a self contained unit since their inception but the integration doesn’t stop there. The rubberised power button also acts as the mode selector, showing a green light for high, amber light for medium and a red light for low. After 2 seconds the colour of the light will act as a fuel gauge, showing green (full-50%), amber (50-25%), red (25-5%) and finally flashing red when there is less than 5% charge remaining.
The MaXx D Mk4 features Smart Port Technology Plus, which allows you to plug in extra batteries, a white LED (White Eye) for increased light output or a red LED (Red Eye or Red Eye Micro) for visibility from the rear. The internal electronics detect which accessory you’ve connected and configure everything accordingly. The smart electronics also monitor heat, reducing power when the temperature gets too hot to prevent damage to your light, and returning to the original setting when the temperature is safe.
The fourth generation of MaXx-D light has been developed from the Mk.1 with 960 lumens up to a whopping 1285 lumens on full power. The MaXx-D can run for three hours whilst staying in the same compact unit.
The MaXx-D is a racer’s choice for the ultimate power to weight ratio bar mounted light. Twinned with a Diablo you have an unbeatable combination.
Weight (incl. bracket): 337g
Output: 1285 lumens
Power: 10400 mAh Lithium Ion battery
Burn time: High (3 hrs) Medium (10 hrs) Low (24 hrs)
Emitter: The MaXx-D uses four Cree XPG R5 LEDs. The Cree XPG R5 is a more refined, higher quality LED of the same type used in the 2011 range. It keeps the same great beam patterns and colour temperature but the light has an additional 7-10% output over last year’s models. We are quoting 325 lumens per LED rather than the 300 in 2011.
Collimated Lens Technology: Exposure Lights use collimated Lens technology. These high-tech resin lenses are specifically designed to optimise light collection from each LED. A great deal of time is invested in research to ensure the optimal beam and output is achieved.
Weatherproof Body: CNC machined aerospace grade aluminum body with efficient heat transfer design.
Function button: Mode and Fuel Gauge indicator.
Intelligent Thermal Management (ITM) – NEW for 2012
New patented technology that combats the loss in efficiency of LEDs at elevated temperatures, maintaining optimum output keeping you shining ‘Brighter for Longer’.
Smart Port Technology (SPT+)
Patented technology that enables a wide range of accessories to run from the power of the light.
Cable Free Design (CFD)
Gold plated charge port – NEW for 2012
The charge port is now gold plated for more efficient conductivity and it is sealed to a greater level.
Storm Cap for Smart Port – NEW for 2012
The Smart Port now has a silicone cover to stop muddy gloves pushing dirt into the port.
Includes: Quick Release handlebar bracket and USB compatible charger.
