If you’re thinking to yourself that the Crankbrothers Eggbeater 1 doesn’t look that new, you’d be half correct. This Ladies and Gentlemen is the new version of the Eggbeater C.
What we have here is the same stamped steel body, wings and bearing design (sealed cartridge and bushing) with the new forged chromoly steel axle that’s 150% stronger than that of the old Eggbeater C. Crankbrothers also sneak in the same investment cast stainless steel spring that the higher end models receive to.
What does this mean for you? Well, the Eggbeater 1 is significantly cheaper than the Eggbeater C was, and it’s 40g lighter to! All with the same easy entry and insane mud clearing ability we’ve all come to love.
As with all Crankbrothers clipless pedals, the Eggbeater 1 features 6 degrees of lateral float and the included brass cleats are asymmetric. Depending on which cleat you put on which foot (and they’re marked for easy identification), you’ll get a release angle of either 15 degrees or 20 degrees. The Crankbrothers Eggbeater 1 come with a 2 year Manufacturer’s Warranty.
